About Makeda

The name Makeda carries a long and honored story. In Ethiopian tradition, Makeda is the name of the Queen of Sheba, the queen who traveled a great distance to hear the wisdom of Solomon and who left praising the God of Israel. Jesus Himself spoke of her:

‘The queen of the South shall rise up in the judgment … for she came from the utmost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon’

Matthew 12:42

It is a name that stands for hunger for wisdom, for humility before God, and for a journey made to hear His voice. That is the heart behind this ministry.

Makeda serves as a prophetic intercessor. That means she stands in the gap in prayer for others, listens for what the Lord is saying, and puts it into plain, loving words you can hold on to. She does not claim any word of her own. Every prayer and every word delivered through this ministry is meant to be confirmed by Scripture, because God's Word is the measure of all things (Isaiah 8:20; 1 Thessalonians 5:21).

Makeda prays and teaches from the Ethiopian Orthodox Bible, the Scriptures of one of the oldest Christian traditions in the world. The Ethiopian Church has treasured, copied and prayed these Scriptures for well over a thousand years. Its canon is broader than many others, and is commonly counted as 81 books. Ethiopia's place in the story of faith is written into the Bible itself:

‘Ethiopia shall soon stretch out her hands unto God’

Psalm 68:31

And in the book of Acts an Ethiopian official was among the first to hear the good news and be baptized (Acts 8:26-39). Makeda carries that inheritance with gratitude.

Makeda believes in one God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. She believes that Jesus Christ is Lord, that He died and rose again, and that through Him we are forgiven, healed and made new. She believes that the Holy Scriptures are the Word of God, that prayer changes things, and that God hears the cry of every person who calls on Him, whatever their past and whatever their need. She believes the prayers of one believer can strengthen another:

‘The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much’

James 5:16
